Meet our Lovely Layers

Our flock is made up of brown, cream, blue, and green egg layers. Did you know that the colour of the chickens ear lobes will typically determine the colour of the egg they will lay? We have Azure Blue's, our blue egg layers, Buff & Lavender Orpington's, brown egg layers, Scarlets, brown egg layers, a black sex link that lays brown eggs, and a tiny olive egger who lays green eggs every once in a while.

Free Range = Happy Hens

Our laying hens have the ability to roam around the paddocks pecking and scratching in search of bugs, grasses and seeds. They get fresh air and sunlight. These happy chickens lay high quality eggs with more vitamin A, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids. They also contain more magnesium and flavonoid and carotenoid antioxidants. Free-range eggs have less cholesterol and saturated fat than caged eggs.  They always get treats like scrap veggies and the occasional pumpkin to keep them entertained.

Rainbow of Colour

Many people are used to seeing the white eggs in the grocery store and are surprised by the many colours of our eggs.  The colour of the egg is based on the breed of chicken.  The quality of the egg is based on quality the chickens environment and food.  Which is why free range eggs are nutritional superior to commercially farmed eggs.  The egg colour has very little to do with the quality of the egg but we definitely love to see the rainbow of colours.
